The more that leave the merrier, get all these bad attitudes out of there and start over, its the only way to rebuild as Novak showed us

Do we know we have players with bad attitudes?

If Harbs doesn't play against WMU and with Valentine being forced to hang 'em up, that leaves us only with Nettles, Jones and 2 true FR at RB.

He did not take over a rebuilding project , infact, STF said he was hired to take us to the next level. Harbs, like it or not, was one of our best players. I am 100% sure he is not transferring because the team is losing. Good character sets the culture. Hammock pushed players out that had good character and much more will go when season is done (no, not 20 but quite a few). Now, instead of going to the next level, we are stuck rebuilding a team for the next 2 years by a guy who I am not sure can even coach let alone be entrusted to build a roster.

Since you believe in over-inflating every word:
-- did you honestly think STF talking about taking "us to the next level" was literal gospel, or something any and every AD would say about a new hire?
-- are you at every practice, team meeting, etc.? How do you know what the culture is and under this culture, what constitutes good character?
-- statistically Harbs was one of the best players. How many runningbacks don't want to be the featured back? How many don't want virtually unlimited touches to prove their ability? So you tell us why under these circumstances he wants to play somewhere else other than he doesn't like losing?
-- what is your evidence Hammock "pushed players out that had good character"? Or are these simply people you know or are friends with?
-- If the recruiting hadn't declined under Carey, how come the cupboard wasn't so well stocked that this year's team could withstand the numerous injuries that have occurred?
-- Why are so many people quick to give Hammock a free pass? Because many of us have been around Huskie athletics longer than you've been alive and we witnessed and saw Hammock's appreciation and commitment to NIU as a player; watched his rise through various coaching assignments at the collegiate and pro level. This is a guy who literally put his heart on the line for NIU football at one point. Most recently, he said it's his dream job, same as so many others have indicated when given a chance to coach at their alma mater. Maybe he gets a free pass because I like the kool-aid when he talks about success academically and athletically, same as he achieved here as a player, in contrast to some of the current generation's entitled attitude.
-- Charlie Sadler had a great resume, but Joe Novak had to run off players, some of whom were starters and believed they were stars, and yes it took longer, but the program did reach new heights. As some other poster noted, maybe to get beyond the level of Carey's we-can-never-win-a bowl-game level, another re-tooling was needed.
-- Despite the quality numbers posted, NIU has had many outstanding backs from Kellar to Latin to Richardson to Roth to Dach to Hammock to Turner to Johnson to Talley to Wolfe, etc., and Harbs doesn't make the top 10.
-- And finally, I'm giving Hammock a pass because I don't know what makes you such an expert on recruiting and coaching that you can even be entrusted to type up a roster, let alone build one. So I'd rather be stuck supporting Hammock and the Huskies than taking advice from someone who doesn't know how much of a football is pumped or stuffed.

----------- did you honestly think STF talking about taking "us to the next level" was literal gospel, or something any and every AD would say about a new hire?
Yes or atleast keep it at the level it was at. This was NOT a rebuild!
-- are you at every practice, team meeting, etc.? How do you know what the culture is and under this culture, what constitutes good character?
I personally know and talked to some players that were let go. Some who were on the deans list and were guys that you would let your daughter date.
-- statistically Harbs was one of the best players. How many runningbacks don't want to be the featured back? How many don't want virtually unlimited touches to prove their ability? So you tell us why under these circumstances he wants to play somewhere else other than he doesn't like losing?
You would have to ask Harbs as to why. This is a hunch, from talking from other players that got axed (and the reasons they were let go), there is more to meet the eye.
-- what is your evidence Hammock "pushed players out that had good character"?

[b]Answered above, but do not take my word for it. Hams tried to bring Collins RB (accused of assault) or held on to Deny Walker (arrested on felony and given benefit of doubt when Hammock arrived)as we were pushing out good players

-- If the recruiting hadn't declined under Carey, how come the cupboard wasn't so well stocked that this year's team could withstand the numerous injuries that have occurred? Because coaching sucked!

Nice story. So whoever is the greatest most diehard NIU fan should become the coach of NIU? Since when and why would being a fan of a team be a consideration on if you are qualified to coach. Give me the most qualified and I couldnt care less if the coach could find NIU on the map
-- Charlie Sadler had a great resume, but Joe Novak had to run off players, some of whom were starters and believed they were stars, and yes it took longer, but the program did reach new heights. Does he make #11 or #15 , if so , that is not a talent you let go!

He took a MAC championship team from 1st to almost last (and do not give me bs about injuries, happens every year, to everybody). And now will be given a pass for 2 years with now accountability?!?!. I hope you never run a company or it will be bankrupt before your years of leniency(for those in charge) ever come to fruition.
Excuse me....Do you know me? What I do for a living? and how I am connected to the team? Continue to assume (only a fool does that). No NIU fan, should be happy with what has transpired and EVERYBODY involved should be held accountable. Staring with the guy running the ship..

I really liked and met Justin Hall. He was an All American in HS. Seemed like a great kid. Now he's at WIU.

Honestly, I don't mind this. I thought we featured way too much of Harbs while other quicker and shifty RBs barely played. Harbs is slow and not a big play guy. He gets us a lot of 2 yard gains and a few 10 yard gains. How many times did he break for 20+ yards this season? Our running game was not dynamic at all and it will be good to see what the other RBs bring to the offense.

Harbs is not a game-breaker type RB. However, it is hard to argue with a back-to-back 1,000 yards rushing seasons.

Looking to 2020, we are left with only Nettles, 2 RS FR, the incoming APB Jevyon Ducker (who looks like he could be very good, but we would have to burn his RS), and another incoming APB Harrison Waylee.

That's curious; Hammock talked about getting a Zack Moss type RB, but both of our 2020 RB commits are all purpose backs.

Of the transfers we had, I was most disappointed about Justin Hall. His skill set seemed to fit the O that was being talked about. While he didn't do a lot at WIU this season, he's only a RS FR, and he may turn out to be one we regret losing.

So far we are really missing Fotis Kokosioilis.

But to be fair, from Carey's teams we miss Andrew Parchment and Daniel Isom

Is that offensive tackle that left for Florida State playing?

We are lamenting about Justin Hall. He has 2 catches for 14 yards and 4 carries for 4 yards this season for 1-10 WIU. Him not being here is not the reason NIU took a step back this year.

No, that's Ryan Roberts. I met his dad, he didn't leave because of Hammock. He left for student life (partying).

He's a freshman. And he was an all American in HS. He's also got a great personality. He has potential to be something down the road.

Roberts left before Hammock. I don't buy the story be left for social life. He should have played more last year, he left BECAUSE of the coaching. He has played full time at FSU.

His dad who played at NIU specifically said "my son is disappointed with campus life. It's boring on weekends, everyone goes home"

And he left for a even bigger dumpster fire at FSU. Who just fired their coach midseason.

Admittedly I haven't read through all 100+ posts on the topic, but is there a link to confirm all this? I assume the OP is a trusted reliable source since it appears everyone is taking this at face value.
